i didn’t have the extra cash to pay someone to write my resume. I was down but not out! I thought of a way to make my resume stand out more then even the most well written ones sitting on the employer’s desk. I designed a resume with some slight artistic features to capture the eye. This is what got me the interviews and eventually a job.
when i was working and mildly miserable, i had my fantasies like everyone else. Man, i thought, if i didn’t have to go to the office every day i’d be the happiest person alive. I’d get so much important work done, and not waste all write my resume for me time on meetings and conference calls and rolling my eyes behind people’s backs.
But, for the most part, companies seem to require a degree or a comparable amount of experience. And that’s been one of the more pleasant things i’ve learned.
you see there cannot be such a thing as the perfect resume sample. Why? Because the whole point of your resume is to showcase your unique accomplishments, experience and skills. In contrast, the purpose of my resume is pay someone to write my resume showcase my unique accomplishments, experience and skills.
i receive resumes by mail, carefully folded in envelopes, with nice paper, a cover letter, handwritten signature in black ink, etc. What do you think will happen to that submittal at most employer’s hr departments? At least i open it and see if there is an email address that i can respond to and demand an electronic copy. That’s only after i check for white powder. Stick with emails please.
If you are using a resume that was created 3 years ago, ask yourself this question: does my resume really reflect all of my qualifications? If the answer is no then you should rewrite it. If the answer is yes, well, that is a topic for a whole other discussion. But, i would ask you to seriously consider what you have been doing since you wrote that resume. Have you really gained no additional experience, learned no new skills, and received no training since you wrote that resume?
